Bro, Rolles had a bad night. Every fighter has a bad night. BJJ is the tool used by a fighter. If BJJ doesn't work in MMA then explain to me BJ Penn, Florian, Mir, Big Nogueira, Shogun, and Demian Maia. I can keep naming guys but then it would just be way too long a reply. There are good, bad, and great BJJ students in MMA and you have the same in Muay Thai and wrestling and all other styles. It happens. |

Not at all he was never promoted as the best Gracie or anything. You can't just go in there just knowing jiu jitsu, you need to have great wrestling, and striking. He doesn't. He also has no conditioning, and it was a big shit on the Gracie name because he was very good in the IFL but wasn't fighting top competition there. |

I think Rolles showed what bad training can do. He was fighting some one he had probably never heard of and took him lightly. Most MMA people don't claim that BJJ is the best; most say wrestling is the best base but that fighters need to learn it all P.S. Do you think Joey Beltran would have known how to get out of the bad spots had he not trained grappling? |

MMA and the UFC has evolved past the days of "Style vs Style " fights. Nowadays, all the fighters are hybrids of different styles. So when a man loses in MMA, its because of the fighter, not the style. If BJJ doesn't work, explain the success or Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Frank Mir, Kenny Florian, and BJ Penn. Rolles Gracie just had a bad night, didn't train well enough, or underistimated his opponent. |

BJJ works in MMA. It's part of MMA. A fighter just can't step into the cage as a BJJ fighter with little training in striking and wrestling and expect to be any good. Frankly though, your question is pretty ignorant. Gracie lost that fight because his conditioning was piss poor. He gassed halfway through the first round. |
