Question: My thoughts on mma...........?
(Posted by: Aloa on 2010-02-08 14:42:35)
Mma is by far my favorite sport and the only one i ever follow. as much as i want it to be the best their is no way it will be bigger than football. the only way i can see it becoming bigger than foot ball is if the organizations matched the grandeur of the superbowl and other big sporting events. unless the ufc or strike force started making shows(and shoved it down our throats) out of their events mma will not be bigger than football.(i would add dream to this but the ufc and strike force are the current top dogs of the mma world) i hope mma some day becomes the biggest sport but i don't realistically see that happening. Also they should take away that 6- 12 illegal elbow rule. i also think the ufc should incorporate a women's division once the females division deepens, come on who doesn't like some Variety. ps fedor is my favorite fighter hmmm..... i dont think so!!!!! |

Not really a question... MMA could be bigger than American football as it already has a world wide appeal. American football is relatively ignored by everyone else on the planet, but MMA is global. The superbowl is watched by 80-90 million Americans, but only ~10 million outside of the US. Compare that to soccer where 700 million people watched the last world cup final... Outside of the US we already see as many people watching MMA as the superbowl. Also you see every event that the UFC puts on getting millions of viewers worldwide, while the season games of American football often get no airtime in other countries at all. MMA is still rapidly growing with new TV deals (Strikeforce have recently announced European TV deals), new gyms opening worldwide, new tournaments (M1 Global are starting a new globe spanning series) and even US states who have previously banned MMA are reversing their decisions. |

Ok....first off, there are just some sports that MMA will never be bigger than. And thats ok, these sports have been around for alot longer, and are american traditions second off, they should enforce more elbow rules. The point of the fight is to determine the best fighter. If one of the fighters loses because of a cut, thats not determining the best fighter, now is it? Elbows create the worst cuts. |

They have to have some rules dude cause then it will be like it was before and no body will want to sponser it Tech its bigger than football cause we have fighters from Brasil, China Japan France everywhere that compete in the top notch leagues. Last time I checked I dont remember China's football team in the football league. |
